Carole Smith from Leicestershire writes: I purchased today 2 old photographs of Wicklewood Windmill, about 10" x 14", in black and white. One states at the bottom 'THE MILLER, WILLIAM WADE AND HIS SON DENNIS STANDING IN FRONT OF WICKLEWOOD WINDMILL IN 1912', this being the clearest print. The second one is 'THE MILLER, WILLIAM WADE, HIS SONS AND KITTY THE HORSE AT WICKLEWOOD WINDMILL IN 1912. As I am a keen Family Historian, I couldn't resist buying them and trying to trace the routes of the Wade family. What wonderful technology the computer is. These pictures were purchased in a town called Coalville in Leicestershire, so automatically thought these originated in Leicestershire: how strange belongings travel! If anyone could enlighten me about the Wade family, I would be most grateful, then I could pick up the 'tree' in this area. If you can help Carole please E-mail me at webmaster@polhouse.force9.co.uk so I can pass anything on. |
